What these columns mean

They measure different things and are not interchangeable. Moving a motion usually means sponsoring a staff report’s recommendation onto the floor. Seconding puts a motion up for debate and is often a seat convention rather than agreement. Meetings are counted against the ones each member was on the record for — not against the whole term, because members join and leave mid-term, so two members’ figures here are not comparable.

Individual positions exist for 11 of 10,378 motions — under 1% of them — because Ontario law records names only when a member asks. Members ask on the most contentious items, so that is a deliberately skewed sample and says nothing about the rest.
